Multi-Toed Murry Portrait

Most of my custom pet sculptures are dogs but every once in awhile I get the opportunity to sculpt a different animal. Here is a much-loved cat who rules the roost.

Love, love, love my fabulous-multi-toed-mini-Murry. So does The Fabulous One, he has been strutting around more then usual since his sculpture arrived. You have a gift, Jennifer, thank you for sharing it.

Thursday evening, May 3, I will join 25 local artists at Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art for an art show/ fundraiser to support SMBA, a youth mountain biking program. You will see many animals on vehicles, especially bicycles! See details here.

May 5-6 and May 12-13 my studio will be open for the East Boulder County Studio Tour. Come visit and see where the art happens! Lots of new pieces, including a party-full of animals in jester hats. See details here.

Memorial Sculpture for Service Dog Chihuahua

This sculpture was commissioned in memory of a chihuahua names Casey Dia who worked as a service dog. Casey visited libraries where children could read to her. In honor of this work we designed a sculpture in which the dog sits atop a book entitled “Dog Tails.” She wears a red sweater as a nod to her red service vest and in recognition of her tendency to get chilled (and her wonderful wardrobe). Because Casey accumulated a variety of tags during her lifetime, the dog lifts off the book and tags can be stored inside.The owner wanted to be sure that the portrait featured Casey’s black eyeliner and crossed front paws.

“When I returned home this evening I received a surprise. Little Casey was waiting! I loved the piece. You really captured her personality. I love the way the book opens. There is plenty of room inside the book for all of Casey’s dog tags. What a special remembrance. I found a perfect place for your beautiful work of art. It sits on my desk right near my bed so I can glance over and see it day or night! It seems to be watching me. Once again, Jen, thanks for all your hard work and creativity.”

Two French Bulldogs

These were my first French Bulldog creations and they have now become a favorite breed to sculpt. The tan pup likes to greet people with a bone so we added that to their portraits.

I am floored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely adore them!!!!!

Love must be in the air because I’ve gone a little crazy with the Valentine’s Day sculptures this year. Frogs, lions, snails, dogs, birds. Most appear or will appear for sale on my Etsy site.

Bob and Emma

This sculpture was commissioned by one of the dogs’ owners as a gift for her husband, who travels frequently. The piece was built super sturdy to sit atop hotel nightstands in various locales.

Bob and Emma arrived, they are just fabulous. They really look like the real thing, you really captured their spirit. Bob is very enquiring and always sort of tries to take center place in any scene, Emma is very laid back and takes her cues from him – that really comes across in the sculpture. I love it, I’m sure Chris will too, thanks so much!

November Solo Show at Boulder Public Library

My sculptures will be on display for the month of November on the bridge at the Boulder Public Library.

The display explains a little about my process of creating Animals on the Move and features the complete Suessian Series: Ceramic Animals Built on Antique Vehicles that Rhyme. I hope local people will check it out.

And for people who live afar, I redid the Suessian Series slideshow with several brand new entries including the piece below. Can you guess what it is? Watch the video here

Mo To Go

Just a quick note to let you know how much we are both enjoying ‘Mo To Go’. He is FABUDOODLE and truly captures Mo’s distinct personality and expression. His ‘go to’ pose is spot on! We love the addition of balls, sticks, bones and the surprise of the tiny stuffed hedgehog – hands down, a full size ‘Hedgie’ is Mowgli’s favorite toy. Sadly, the only one not able to fully enjoy ‘Mo To Go’ is Mo himself…..he has been angling for a way to get at those hidden treasures since the moment MiniMo came out of the box – LOL. Thank you so much for your time, effort and most of all, the beautiful sculpture- you are a pleasure to work with as well as a super creative and gifted artist!
